After changing bulbs, the light switch, and using a bulb current tester, along with wire diagrams, I tracked the problem down to the intergrated 'taillight relay' located behind the gloove box, in the passenger junction box (pjb). The fuses (80,81 & 46) all looked good. Tapping on the PJB will turn the lights back on sometimes. With some looking up on the internet, as well as phone calls with Mazda, we were told that the PBJ has to be replaced to the tune of 0 for the actual PBJ as well as another 8 to reprogram the computer and sync it with my car, plus cost of labor and shop time.
Well,, if I was asked where is Headlight Low relay,, answer is it is in Passenger Junction Box (fuse/relay block) which is the block located under grove box where lots of fuses are inserted. But the problem is that Relay #22 through #33 are BUILT INTO this fuse/relay block and headlight Low relay ( Relay #23) is one of these.
