cnc 6040 router machine bed upgrade If I was retro fit dual steppers to the Y Axis of a Chinese 6040 CNC Router, would it be best to keep the Gantry brace that runs under the bed, or is it not required? Mentioning I would be using extrusion for Gantry instead of the thin plate used now. Much better way to do it if you intend on distribution is to cut the aerial and feed it into your loft. Then install a aerial distribution amp, then feed the newly amplified signals into .

From Emerson → Hi CNC-6040 users, the bed is finally upgraded. Here follows some features: Effective working dimension (x,y): (304 x 520) mm, Tolerance in Z (0.05 x 0.025) mm along the entire length (x,y) respectively. Hitachi sj200 VFD with 1.5kw watercooled (chinese) or preferably german, taiwan or america spindles (if anyone has a list of 65mm spindles please list them) so pretty much a much improved 6040 with better controllers, spindle and power supply. I'm upgrading the motion controller, breakout board, adding a power supply, and upgrading my stepper drivers. I'm reusing components where possible, such as the spindle VFD and power supply from the original CNC, but I've added much more robust equipment.
Basically a 15mm steel plate topped by a ply or mdf layer with recessed anchors. You probably lose a bit of z height, though. https://mbcreates.com/cnc-router/cnc.e-bed-upgrade/
Upgrade 6040 to Gecko G540, what else do I need? Need Help!- Extend Z Axis upgrade on CNC 6040. Doing the same with mine eventually. I think it would help, if nothing else the bearing blocks have adjustment on them to take up any lash between the rails and bearings. Turn them upside down and using longer cap screws will fix most of the uneven surfaces problem, plus giving you more slot to clamp your jobs. Also, everyone talks about spindle speed in rpm, is there a way to make the vfd display the RPMs?
I've upgraded the shortest axis. 400mm one with hgr20mm rail on the back side and left the unsupported 20mm rail in place on the front. creating a sort of boxed setup. i also machined up a backplate out of 15mm 6061 ally plate to help with overall rigidity. Another problem that immediately presented itself was the nature of the machine's bed. Poor quality aluminum extrusions meant there was no way to tram the spindle to the bed due to uneven and erratic warping. To fix this problem I purchased an aluminum tooling plate, drilled and tapped holes on my Bridgeport, and mounted it in its place.
