Transmission date code January 21, 1965. Rear gate code January 21, 1965. I have all the PHS documentation I have the bucks tag showing the 5N for the car matching the Cowl tag. To answer your question, I am not having the body taken off the frame, I purchased the 7 piece floor pan kit from Ames and will be having a seasoned Pontiac guy who has done 20 something trunk floor replacements doing the job. I am fortunate with my GTO club to have some top quality people to help and guide me as I make changes and upgrades.
A recent purchase and pulled the seats for eventual carpet replacement and found the pictured under layment that apparently used some kind of adhesive to the sheet metal. The carpet was very old and i thought maybe original, but i've read that originally Pontiac used a tar paper like material. I purchased a 1965 lemans (maybe GTO). And went to a builder today in Atlanta. I have all of the parts for restoration including engine floor and trunk pan body panels and transmission. His quote was ,000-,000 to finish. It's a convertible but I'm not sure the value is there after restoration if not a GTO. Sheet metal alignment is not for the impatient, that's for sure. I'm in the middle of pre-fitting my 67 together and about 50% of the time the geometry change in my head is the opposite of what the panel needs or wants. Door alignment issues could be worn out hinge pins, and hood alignment problems could be worn hinge issues also.
The 1964-1974 Pontiac Tempest, Lemans & GTO. . screwed it on with half dozen sheet metal screws and hit . O = Mirror Group (1965) T = Power front seat (Bench or L.H. Bucket) W = Soft ray tinted glass (Windshield only) Y = Power windows Group 2: A= Foam bench seat cushion (Exc. GTO) B = 3 speed manual transmission (Floor shift) E = Air conditioning (Different ducting) G = Console H = Heater delete K = Air conditioning L = 4 speed manual transmission It does not help in this instance. I found part of my problem last night. I could not get my plastic directional assembly over the three guide pins. When I tried to push it over the guide pins, the first hole cracked. I drilled the pin heads down then drilled holes for sheet metal screws (see attached picture).
